About READY
When I was in high school, I always struggled for exams, because I found I don’t have enough time to prepare. I did not feel like I am ready.
I was scared for scheduling a TOEFL exam, because I feel like I was not ready for it. I wanted to take more mock exams, to have more practices to get prepared. Likewise, sometimes I was too scared to start because I thought I need to think thoroughly to make sure everything is perfect. This lead to a potential problem: what if you don’t? What if you got interrupted? This process would end up in the middle, and may would stay the same even when you pick it up. I think this is one of the representations of being a J person: you plan and worry about many things.
Since College, especially sophomore, I became more of a P person: when I thought of something, I started to do it instantly. Planning is still part of the process, but it became more flexible. I officially became a “chilled” person by definition of “P”.
I noticed this change. I did not feel like this is bad or I should keep the same pattern. I thought it was cool. Then, one day I scrolled this TikTok video about procrastination. I felt the same way as he said, and I quoted “You will never ‘feel’ like you are ready, but you can always START to ready”.
One example can be:
- When I feel like I am ready to take TOEFL exam, I will schedule an exam
- Let me schedule an exam, and start ready.
